Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

Since we are getting to the end of the year, I want to share part of the work I have been doing lately. I intend to send off this video next February.

The rest hasn't had full consent yet, that is why I am not handing it out right now.

I wish all of you very well and hope to hear from you soon. It would be lovely to see you around on Facebook as Heike suggested.

Happy New Year to you all!!

Hello dear group.

Hello dear group.

First of all, I will apologise for my silence.

After so much thinking and reading I felt inspired to take a step forward with my idea about designing teaching materials for ESOL, but then I found an opportunity to put everything together in a proposal and I did it! I applied for a scholarship to start my research and I will pursue my PhD in University of London - Goldsmiths College of Education.

I need to say, that the Teaching Online opened my mind in such a creative way and particularly the exploration of tools and the interaction with teachers around the globe made me realise that the potential of IT is huge, and because of that I want to enrich my academic background as a researcher.

Thank you Heike for this...I owe you everything! Big hug.

Here is my redrafted VMV proposition.

Here is my redrafted VMV proposition. Following your advice Heike Philp I have tried to make it less generic...hopefully I am getting closer to the mark. I am working on the business proposal now and see that the VMV proposition is an important part of it so I neet to get it right :-) Editing permissions have been given! Please feel free... Any feed feedback gratefully accepted as always.

Heike Philp feeling super super motivated after speaking today.

Heike Philp feeling super super motivated after speaking today. Thanks. You made me feel like this is really possible... here is the link to the document I was talking about which I used to help me do the VMV statement... I would be interested to know what you think..(when you're not so busy ;-))
From this I understand that the Vision is Where you are going (the future you want to createand what it will change), the Mission is Why your business exists and what you will do to make your vision a reality, and the Values are what you stand for and what will make the Vision and the Mission possible... ???

Hi

Hi,
Based on my Vision, Mission, Value statement, this is the first draft of my elevator pitch (which takes just over 30 seconds) I wasn't sure if we had to present it in writing or a video of us doing it...
I kind of followed formulas I found online and advice I gathered from different sources and the information on Heike Philp 's wiki. I tried to answer the questions
Who we are?
What we do?
Why is is needed? Why valuable?
How it will get done?

It will be interesting to see if I am on the right lines and how it can be improved... ;-) Thanks

Formulas:
We solve [problem] by providing [advantage], to help [target] accomplish [target’s goal].

My name is <>, the CEO of <>. Our company manufactures <> for <> that allows them to <>.
Unlike <>, we <>.
<>

Hi

Hi,
I've been redrafting my vision, mission, value statement after reading Heike Philp 's comments and meeting my helpful "team" on Tuesday (thanks for your advice Fernanda, Carolina and Yuko...) This is my second version. I went back to basics and tried to think what makes me unique. As it isn't what I teach and or where I (intend to) teach (online) I thought about how I teach... I am passionate about giving learners the tools they need to be autonomous and to be able to carry on their learning in the future and I am also an advocate of teaching soft skills (life skills) too. In our modern society I believe some of these skills are fundamental. This is how I teach English now and how I will continue to teach online so I decided to put it into my vision, mission, value statement... So this is my second draft.... any feedback gratefully accepeted ;-)

Heike Philp Hi Heike as I joined late, I feel a little lost.... Do we have deadlines for these tasks? I don't think there are any live sessions are there? Thanks ;-)

Hi, I have created a first draft of a vision, mission, value proposition (or what I believe it to be...) I really enjoyed doing it and it is the first time I have actually sat down and formalised the ideas for my business. So even it isn't correct, it has helped me understand my own business better :-) I have given editing rights, so feel free to add any feedback... ;-) Thanks!
p.s Heike Philp Is the elevator pitch more or less a summary of the vision, mission statements?

For teaching online, I envisage something connected to English Dipping, which is my very small business taking place since 2013 in Tacuarembó, focused mainly on teenagers, preparing Cambridge international exams, adults and also in company students.
My idea for teaching online is to open myself to new markets; I imagine teaching to Spanish speakers.
The idea is to broaden my work; sometimes I feel a bit lonely here despite having worked in different schools in the city both as a teacher and a coordinator. What I show you below is an illustration of what English Dipping has been in the past years. The idea would be now to take this to the virtual world aiming at students who need to start from scratch, upgrade their English, maybe prepare exams, in other parts of Uruguay or abroad.
Heike’s idea of connecting this to the concept of immersive learning is enlightening. I do want to invite my online students to “experience” English learning as something motivating and significant, something that helps them develop their potential and find better opportunities. I hope I can find the way and that not being a tech-savvy is not an impediment. Do you think it makes sense?

Below I show you what I already got about English Dipping. I do have the logo, fortunately!

Hi, I have just watched the recording of your session.

Hi, I have just watched the recording of your session. Some really great ideas... As I wasn't there I will share where I am at now here in this group ;-) I am in the process of setting up my online business. Like Yuliya, it is my escape route from school... After being at the same school for 12 years I am ready for new different kinds of challenges where my creativity is not stifled and I don't have to compromise my values and priorities. I have a webpage almost finished and am working on the LMS on Moodle cloud. I want to work with small groups of adults to teach speaking skills. I am happy to get enough students to allow me to leave school and be my own boss at first but if that all goes well, the sky's the limit and who knows I might one day be employing teachers like you did +Heike Philp ;-) The business side really excites me...

Hello.

Hello.

I wasn't in the first session, but I am aware of the task and the importance of thinking 'outside the box' in order to come up with a nice and innovative idea for a business.

I am experiencing some health issues that with the time are affecting my mobility, and because of this, I am finding that the Online Teaching can be my door to the future!

During my 20 years of teaching in classrooms around the world now I feel that I have the adaptability to embrace my profession from a different setting.

In the past, have designed textbooks and learning units (teaching materials), Now I feel confident that I would do a nice job integrating ICT tools into learning environments to learn MFL.

Here in the UK unfortunately, learning a second language is a too exam/test-oriented experience. My first years teaching here were a disaster because I used to be extra creative when planning the schedules of learning in Colombia. Now I am designing learning units that are attached to the different exams that students do like Functional Skills (ESOL), Ascentis, Edexcel, CAE, and FCE.

I think that under this background I want to explore the creation and distribution of workshops or, hands-on units for teachers that need in their classroom the interactivity, design, fun, and joy. My idea is to share my knowledge in continuous development course for teachers.

Does it make sense?

I will appreciate your views!

Thank you.

I would like to share my latest business idea.

I would like to share my latest business idea. I am building a webshop for digital language learning material (ebooks, online material) and digital games. It is called DAGONET. Dagonet was King Arthur's jester. A fitting name I thought in my series of gaming convention (LANCELOT, AVALON, CAMELOT, GUINEVERE, Virtual Round Table). DAGONET could stand for Digital.... and Games... on the NET - or similar.
I got the dagonet.shop adress and installed a webshop software. I started this about 4 weeks ago and have put in one ebook so far. Not even the logo has been created. Hence this is a great project to develop a business plan for. What do you think?
