I would like to share my latest business idea.

I would like to share my latest business idea. I am building a webshop for digital language learning material (ebooks, online material) and digital games. It is called DAGONET. Dagonet was King Arthur's jester. A fitting name I thought in my series of gaming convention (LANCELOT, AVALON, CAMELOT, GUINEVERE, Virtual Round Table). DAGONET could stand for Digital.... and Games... on the NET - or similar.
I got the dagonet.shop adress and installed a webshop software. I started this about 4 weeks ago and have put in one ebook so far. Not even the logo has been created. Hence this is a great project to develop a business plan for. What do you think?

  1. Sounds like a great idea to me. One of my man concerns about setting up online is where I am going to get all my resources from. I like to make my own but I know that I will not have time to make them all and I won't be using a text book like in class. I think there is a need for this kind of thing and educators will welcome it. I have entertained the idea myself to earn a passive income...maybe one day. I love "dagonet", works brilliantly ;-)

  2. Dagonet sounds really interesting! It looks like the perfect response to the demand for specific e-books. I believe online teachers will appreciate this greatly!

  3. Heike, I cannot post any comment to Lisa's introduction, doesn't seem to be activated. Is that possible?

    Clever naming!

I would love to know more about gamification to enhance language learning. So far, I've seen some presentations, but most of them make me think, "Hmm...are they systematic enough for academic setting?"

For example, you go to Second Life/Sansar, walk around and meet other people, but it seemed like students are mostly spending their time, focusing on "playing games" rather than learning a language.

However, I think there is great potential there if teachers can use their lesson time in some virtual world more efficiently than f2f classes.

  5. Oh Heike, you are such a clever teacher! I think i will use this web for every class. Will you make any classification by levels? As i always say, this is my great problem: to find the adequate readings, videos, songs, topics... for every level that i use to divide in three: initial, medium and advanced.

The only thing i have in mind to make an online conection with my Second Life teaching is a web page or a google page (or whatever could be easier way to me and for the students). I trust your experience and i am sure you will advice me about the simplest way. More than a business what i look for is to create a tool that could help my students. For now i have used Quizlet, but from now it will not bea enough for me. Hugs!
